Fitting the 6" into Carry-On Luggage

I finally took my scope on a trip!

I took a regulation carry on suitcase, with external handle, and made a custom foam and plywood case system on the inside.

I used 1/4" birch plywood, 1/2" foam camping pad, and a Briggs and Riley Ultralight Carry-On. The Briggs and Riley, although expensive, has very good interior volume, is very well made, and has a lifetime warranty against whatever the airlines can throw at it.

At the two security check points I went through, I offered to open it up, but they were satisfied with it. I got a few questions (what's the big round thing) but it was no problem.
